As 2012 comes to a close, businesses already have their 2013 marketing plans in que. What’s at the top of the list? According to the CMO Council in its “State of Marketing 2012″ survey, 62% of senior marketers stated that social media tools such as interactions, fan pages, social analytics, social ad targeting, among others are marketing channels they plan to evaluate in the next 12 months followed by mobile apps and loyalty programs at 34%. Coming in close behind mobile is online customer or business community formation at 32%. These tools are expected to influence recruitment by CMO’s in the following year. So what kind of experience are you expected to have? 46% cited social media followed by marketing analytics at 43% and strategic planning and business development at third with 32%. Surprisingly these items have surpassed customer intelligence (24%), search engine marketing (24%), web analytics (24%), product marketing (23%), and database marketing (23%) as recruitment priorities. However, all these experiences and knowledge are key components to have for a successful 2013.
