eMarketer released an article laying out the statistics of retail sales this holiday season. According to Chase Paymentech, US retailers with a web presence are expecting over half of their holiday sales to come from ecommerce. 6% of retail sales are expected to come from mcommerce.

No surprise that the mobile ad network Jumptap expects an increase lift in traffic and CTR for mobile ads running this holiday season. So much so that they anticipate an 11% increase in traffic to mobile ads and a 3% increase in CTR on Christmas Eve alone.

Let’s not forget about social media. Chase Paymentech also expects 86% of US online retailers plan to use Facebook for holiday promotions and 70% using Twitter for holiday promotions. Payvment surveyed over 1,000 of their sellers. Their results revealed that  41% plan to use a “20% off” promotion, 34% “free shipping promotion”, 15% “more than 20% off promotion” and 11% “dollar value promotion.” They have also found that 20% of sellers say they use Pinterest to generate traffic to their Facebook stores.

When it comes to ecommerce, convenience is everything. Try something different this year like a Facebook store or email newsletters offering incentives for holiday shopping. Make your shoppers engage in your products beyond just an ecommerce store!
